Sometimes it's a single time Wub...

A couple of vocal dubstep influenced tracks to get stuck into; firstly Maya Jane Coles and Lena Cullen aka She is Danger to re-address that skewed balance of dubstep being owned by nerdy bloke producers...
Their remix of the current mainstreamer from Ellie Goulding...

Ellie Goulding – Under the Sheets (She is Danger remix)

Next up from Canadia it's Zeds Dead. Who is Zed? Well there's two of them and they've been making on hell of a noise for a couple of stiffs. Highly recommeded are these two tracks but we shall be keeping a close watch on this duo and hoping they'll make a journey to these shores soon...

Blue Foundation - Eyes On Fire (Zeds Dead Remix)
Sublime – Doin Time (Zeds Dead Summer Grime Remix).mp3

Two more for the road?  Ok then, an unknown remixer has done the business with the Aphex Twin classic window licker and the almost as equally obscure Enigma & Shorterz remix of the garage banger Double 99, enjoy...

London crew...

It's Saturday, and that means it's time to shak out. So all London crew, head South and make your way to the marvellous Corsica Studios where Un Bongo and Spam Fritter will be bringing the bass and the tropical riddims. These two sets of promoters have teamed up and put together hench line up of some of the most formidable and fantastic DJ's and producers 'pon the block. The blurb promises...

"Bongo basslines/fresh funky/tribal rollers/safari beats/glitchy shakers/badboy bashment - East London carnival vibes. Taking you through Africa, across to the Caribbean, up South America, below the underground subway labrynth of bongo drummers in elephant & castle, right inside the grimey arches of the train station."

And that's just one room! With sets from Rag and Bone head honcho Warlock, as well as Rinse FM / FWD>> badman Roska, plus D-Malice, Smutlee and Deamonds this is set to blow, ya dun know. Plus all of this tropical badness is being served up with a hot and meaty Spam Fritter who will be bringing...

"Elephant bass/Dub Stomp/Two-ton step/Mutant Rave/Hefty House. Big like Badman. Leave the cool attitudes at the bus stop, this one brings you the rise of the idiots!"

And who are we to argue with a line up that includes Supra1, Kanji Kinetic, Squires of Gothos, Bruce Stallion and the Bump & Grind DJs.

Heavy like ya mum... see you by the Funktion1!

Riddim!

Question time with AC Slater

After the recent Hype Society event at one of Bristol's cosiest venues: The Tube; Shhh Now caught up with NYC's trouble and bass man of the minute AC Slater to answer some of life's big questions...

SHHH:  Hey Aaron; can I have your T-shirt?
AC: No man it's like my skin
SHHH: You can have mine
AC: Seriously no.
SHHH: Ok well can I ask you 6 questions?
AC: 5
SHHH: Fair enough. What have you got in your pockets?
AC: um... £1.63, a credit card, mobile phone and some stickers
SHHH: Useful. OK if you had to have sex with an animal or you'll die what would it be?
AC: A human
SHHH: You can't have a human
AC: Ok I guess it would have to be something gentle
SHHH: A giraffe then?
AC: no way man... I dunno maybe a frog.
SHHH: Interesting. Ok so which city on your various trips around the globe this summer has been your favorite?
AC: It's gotta be New York. We did a night not so long ago with Caspa & Rusko which was great because it had the same type of atmosphere you get over here in the UK but in my home town NYC
SHHH: Rad. So when you go home to stay at your mum's after all these partys what meal does she cook for you?
AC: Pork chops and sauerkraut
SHHH: Delicious I'm sure. So finally imagine it's 10 o clock in the morning, people are fragging out all over the dregs of a typical debaucherous house party and you're in charge of the Awia mini system... What tune do you put on?
AC: I'd put on an album 'cos it's last longer... probably De la soul is Dead
SHHH: Any reason for that choice?
AC: Because everyone would be like: "woah thats really weird".
SHHH: Safe.

AC Slater is currently touring Europe, details of this are all up on his Myspace.
The next Hype Society event is @ the Tube with Drop the Lime on the 12th November
And of course to finish: some of tracks we're loving at the mo from the man himself (right click save as folks)

Don't watch that.... Watch this!

"I draw shitloads, i make music too, i don't like coffee."

Self-proclaimed "piss artist" Monsta has caught the attention of the Shhhnow famble. There's something about his freakish cartoon images we dig, and apparently, we're not the only ones. This Cambridge based artists work has popped up on myspace gracing the profile pics of dubsteppers such as N-Type, Stenchman and Heist. Also, on the covers of many releases by Rufige Crew aka Goldie (or Clifford Price to his muvva'). There's no point trying to explain his style, but we think you'll like it, so - click here!

If you want more, peep the myspace! Loads of wicked pics and some hench tuneage to boot. Not to mention some sick little animations, like this one:

And not forgetting, staying true to the Shhhnow! stylings here's a dutty little dubstep mix from the Monsta himself... right here.

SAFE.

It's a question of General Knowledge...

Resident DJ at Brock Out: The General has laid down some downright dirty audible business to keep your ears occupied until their next event. Trust this is something to get excited about - 50 tunes mashed into 75 minutes covering dubstep, bassline, electro and fidget. If you haven't made it to one of the nights yet then this is a good indication of what to expect in the main room...

::Next Event:: Brock out Vs The Z Shed - Saturday November 28th @ Timbuk2 (Bristol)- More hype on this coming soon!

THE GENERAL - THE GENERAL KNOWLEDGE MIX

Jamie T - Kings and Queens

One of our favorite albums of 2007 was Jamie's debut: Panic Prevention. Since then we've caught him live at festivals such as Glastonbury plus private gigs where he's proved to be a performer who never fails to dissapoint.
His latest offering sees a more grown up take on his style still fusing cockney rap, folk melodies and up-beat drum & bass influences. Either way it's something we'd like to bring to your attention if you're not already in the know.

The single Sticks & Stones is getting a lot of play at the moment so here's a couple of choice album tracks as well as a remix by Ben Bones and the original promo mix from the first album full of music he's obviously taken influence from.

Check Jamie on myspace as well as the upcoming UK tour dates and the new album Kings and Queens (amazon) is out now.
